A Parent's Guide to Booking a Safe PG Near Delhi University

Verify the PG in person (or via a trusted local)
Photos lie. A 15-minute physical visit tells you more than any brochure.
If you can't travel, ask for a live WhatsApp video walkthrough of the exact room being offered.

Safety non-negotiables
24×7 on-site warden — meet them.
CCTV at entrance, staircase, and every corridor.
Biometric or key-card entry, not a shared physical key.
Fire extinguisher on every floor + a clear fire exit.
Female cleaning + mess staff in girls PGs.
Food and hygiene
Ask to see the kitchen. Look at the floor, gas stove, storage tins.
Ask for last week's menu — variety matters over 6 months.
Filtered water dispenser on every floor.
Housekeeping frequency: daily sweeping, at least twice-weekly deep clean.
Money — what's normal, what's a red flag
Standard: 1 month rent + 1 month refundable deposit. That's it.
Get a stamped receipt for every rupee paid.
Sign an 11-month written agreement with the owner (not a broker).
Never pay 3–6 months upfront. Never pay pure cash without a receipt.

How are complaints about roommates or food handled?
